Assembly - Explorer 2 Rover Robot

Important things to remember are:
- Part colors will be different than those shown in the video.
- Screen images from the Android App will be different from those shown.
- 3D printed pieces may have strings that may need to be sanded or trimmed off.
- Snap together parts may require a strong force to connect the the first time.
- Charge the power bank for 2-4 hours using the included Mini USB Cable using any USB Outlet (not included).
Section 1: Chassis
HERE ARE ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED:
- (4) Axels
- (4) Tabs marked “H”
- (2) 2-wire cables
- Main Chassis Board
- (2) Loop Bands marked “F” front & “R” rear
- (1) “I” Shaped Bracket
- (1) Battery Power Pack
- (4) Screws
- (1) Screwdriver
1. Insert the 4 tabs marked “H” into the 4 Axels, marked “E”
2. Carefully connect the 2-wire cables to each of the 2 motors.
3. Snap the bands marked “F” and “R” into the grooves on the “I” shaped bracket
4. Insert the battery through the bands, power button facing away from the bracket.
5. Center the power pack on the chassis.
6. Insert the 4 motors into the corners of the chassis- white axels facing out. *If your axels do not all face outward, you will need to pull one of the motors "body" out of the motor housing. The fit of the motor inside it's housing is very snug, but will come out with strong force.
7. Cover the ends of the “I” bracket with the motors.
8. Flip over the assembly and screw the motors onto the chassis.
9. Press the wheels onto the axels.
Section 2: LED Display Screen
- HERE ARE ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED:
- Screen Housing marked “B”
- (2) OLED Screen chips
- Screen Frame
- Divider
- Screen Housing Back
- Frame- Pillars up
- OLED Screen - Pins up

Divider- Raised portion up
- Port chip- white port up
2. Press the assembled screen into the screen housing box, marked “B”:
3. Snap on the back cover.
Section 3: Gear Box
HERE ARE ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED:
- (2) Gear box chips
- Gear box housing
1. Connect the pins of the 2 gear box chips.
2. Place components into gear box part “C”.
3. Snap the back cover on.
Section 4: Camera
HERE ARE ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED:
- Camera Housing marked A
- Clear Ring
- Camera Window
- Camera chip
- Motherboard
1. Place the circular camera window inside the clear ring.
2. Insert into the matching groove inside the camera housing.
3. Connect the camera electronics board to the motherboard
4. Place electronics into the housing, white ports up.
5. Slide in the housing top.
6. Press on the back cover.
Section 5: Final Assembly and Wiring
HERE ARE ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED:
- Assembled Camera, Gear box, OLED Screen and Chassis
- (2) 2-wire Cables, already attached to the motors.
- (1) 4-wire Cable
- (1) 6-wire Cable
- (1) 2-wire Cable with USB end.
- Cable Ties (Optional)
- Bumper (Optional)
- Micro USB Cable (For charging later)
1. Run the motor’s 2-wire cables up through the grooves in the chassis
2. Connect the 2 motor wires into the small gear box ports
3. The 6-wire cable connects the gearbox to the center of the camera
4. The 4-wire cable connects the camera (left center port) to the screen
5. Plug in the USB/2-wire cable to the power bank, and run it up through the grooves in the chassis.
6. Connect the USB cable into the right side port behind the camera.
7. Snap on the Camera - facing forwards, on top of the power cable.
8. Snap on the OLED Screen -facing backwards, on top of the motor wires
9. Snap on the Gearbox - around the middle, over the motor wires
10. Snap the bumper on to the front tabs of the Rover.
11. Use a zip tie to arrange your wires or customize the design of your Rover.
Section 6: Connecting Rover To the Robo Coder App
HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 2.4 GHz Wifi access: WiFi network SSID (name) and Password.
- Mobile Device- tablet or smartphone
- Robo Coder App downloaded to mobile device. - Google Play Store - Apple App Store
- Smart Kiddo Account: Login Email and Password.
- (Register free at smartkiddousa.com)
1. On your mobile device, launch the Robo Coder App & Login
2. Go to the Mission "Explorer2 Basics", “Basic Coding” Level
3. Turn On Rover - both the Power Bank and the motherboard, power button behind the camera.
4. Go to your device settings, then select "WiFi" or “Networks”
5. Choose network named “Explorer2 (ID:######)” matching your Rover’s display screen
6. Enter the password shown on the Rover display
7. Return to Robo Coder, in the menu, choose “Connect” or “Connect by I.P.”
8. Select Explorer2 (ID:######) or enter the I.P. # on the vehicles’ screen
9. From the menu, select “Wifi Menu” and select “Update”
10. Enter the SSID (Network Name) and Password of the WiFi network
11. Turn the Rover off and on.
12. Reconnect your phone or tablet to your home Wifi network.
13. In the course menu, select “Connect” and choose your rover.
14. Select the “Grad. Cap” to begin coding!
15. If you don’t see the “Grad Cap” select “Reopen Course”
16. Reconnect to the Rover in the “Connect’ menu
Note: Home Network Mode= For coding and saving progressAP (Access Point) Mode= For controlling Rover in areas without Wifi
In the future, your Rover will automatically connect with the home Wifi network you just set up. If you need to use the Rover in a new location, or a place without Wifi, hold down the small black button and the power button on the back of the camera to reset the Rover, and forget networks. Simply follow steps 1, 2 and 3 to take Rover anywhere!
